counting honesty :)

Sometimes you come across an honest man, who doesn’t know how to do lappanchappan. I met a taxi driver whose meter was one of the best i have seen in my memories. Who drove following all the traffic signs and rules. He had never been handed ticket for violation of rule in his 5 years of driving career. And i liked what he said the most:

Life is not about earning few hundred rupees more. Anyone can earn money but whether you earn by looting others or by being honest, that counts.

what i saw is what i am telling you

Yes, I am back to the little-town after almost a week.

Traveled, saw interesting things, listened interesting stories: Some worthy to share, some worthy for self-amusement only.

Had interesting free wifi session at Nepalgunj Airport. We decided to look for coke (man, mid west is reigned by Pepsi, yuck) and we voila, we found one shop. There i decided to go online and what, there was unsecured wifi. As i started uploading some pics i had clicked on the way and checked few emails. My partner in the trip asked to use the email as his iphone gave Dhoka in connecting to the available wifi. We were sitting in chairs that were attached to eachother. As soon as i handed my lappy to him, suddenly wifi is gone. Again he gave to me and it was back, full on. We both got surprises and joked…. Man there were no barriers around but still network waves decided to amuse us. :P

Another interesting discovery i made was: Buddha air flies to Lakhnau at around 6K and train ticket to Delhi is just under 400 NRS. Seems i should give in to my desire to visit Delhi using this route hehe….or go little more to Bangalore or Chennai or Mumbai :D Oh, now my desire goes wide and big lol :P

While flying above Kathmandu Valley one thing i saw was: almost 3 quarters of valley was having load shedding. You sucked NEA but the roads looked so beautiful with vehicles lights….it was more like some wedding night lights…. awesome :)

I thought i was going to be a ghost writer here.

After months, if not years, of illusion, i realized my website says all about me. No no, i am not the Rabindra Gurung you discover by googling. :P

Now at western city that connect the another-world-within-Nepal with Rajdhani Kathmandu. Here for talking (yes thats what i do). But amazing part is: you invite people to do nothing but talk, offer them free food and some money as incentives for coming and talking, still people don’t come on time. You invite them at 9 and they turn up at 11. What’s wrong with people or is their watch that is the culprit?

Btw did i tell you that the hotel i ended up at first night was terrible, yes you know it: the cheaper one. They gave me sirak which was basically useless. I cover myself it’s too hot and i throw it, it’s cold. Thank god i had got my own all-time-use-me-mutipurpose-blanket. And yes mosquitoes tried to took revenge for all the killings i have done so far. But i suffered just few casualties: in your face mosquitoes :P Yes, yes i have changed to this nice cozy hotel, don’t worry.

Oh yes, forgot to tell you – i even went to see the national park but didn’t had courage to enter inside. Travelled almost 80Kms to see the gate and few Crocs. lying on river bank, a turtle swimming, and Yes, a PIG tied to the tree. Never ever had seen pig being tied to something. It was so cute sight to see but alas, couldn’t take pictures. There at the side of national park we searched for a restaurant which echoed it’s name: hideway. Hard to find seriously. There we asked for Chowmein (yes, chowmein) with less spices and we ended up eating that was so hot with lots of chilies. We all were wondering what would have come if we had asked for hot chowmein :P

Last note: Overall assessment about myself. I am HORRIBLE and you are right about almost everything you said.

Down with you NEA

After 4 days of trip powered by generator, I had forgotten that load shedding exists. Today’s load-shedding time was till 7 PM and I was hoping there would be power so that when I reach home I could read some emails or flirt with some people (alright later one is untrue). But there was no power. My mom said that power came and went twice. Finally it came back and I opened the browser, typed www.gmail.com and then again it went pop. No it hasn’t come back. My nephew came to me asking for telephone no. of Nepal Electricity Authority. When I asked for the reason he replied, “to scold them. They were supposed to give us power. Look over there, there in the tower like Eifel (he was referring to broadlink’s tower) there is always power. And we don’t have it. We need to scold them”.

I agree with him, totally. NEA you suck, you are embroiled in corruption and everyone knows it. Irony no one does anything to you.

I hear my sister cursing NEA, “At least give power when it’s our time to get power. What are you doing, just want to kill you” and my mom is saying, “it’s just like living at village, who says we live in Kathmandu, the capital”.

Update: Now lights have come but the voltage is really really low. wtf, i don’t know!
