Do I look like a communist?
I was cruising through busy streets of New Road. Suddenly I saw a busy kiosk of books on the roadside. So I stopped there and started to scan the books. Seeing me eying the books, the owner of around late 30′s asked me whether I would love to buy Nepali version of Maxim Gorkhi’s Mother. I said NO and before I asked her my question, she showed me Gorkhi’s ideologies, then some other communist leader’s book, some home grown communist guerilla’s story and many other.
I just kept saying no and searching for book I wanted to read: B.P. Koirala’s Sumnima.
Before she showed me any other communism inspired book, I asked her whether she got Sumnima. She cut her lips and said NO, but wait: She then showed me other books which were again inspired by Marx’s idea.
What the hell she thought about me: Do I look like a communist?
Weren’t there other books apart from communism inspired ones? Sure there were: there was Paulo Cohelo, Khalid Hoessini and even J.K. Rowling. But she showed me again and again, same books on communism.
Nowadays it seems communism books are instant bestsellers on street. Everyone’s loving idea of equality and are hoping that this communist lead government would write pro-people constitution. May be that euphoria is showing on streets as well
i guess c jus wanted to sell those communist books .. mayb c is one of ‘em
