Do I look like a communist?

1

the_communist_party_largeI was cruising through busy streets of New Road. Suddenly I saw a busy kiosk of books  on the roadside. So I stopped there and started to scan the books. Seeing me eying the books, the owner of around late 30′s asked me whether I would love to buy Nepali version of Maxim Gorkhi’s Mother. I said NO and before I asked her my question, she showed me Gorkhi’s ideologies, then some other communist leader’s book, some home grown communist guerilla’s story and many other.

I just kept saying no and searching for book I wanted to read: B.P. Koirala’s Sumnima.

God, religion and age

2

We were passing by motorcade of some religious group who were chanting Ram’s name and waving hindu flag and asking everyone to attend sermon from some Guruji. They were excited about the event and handing over the pamphlet about their guru ji and the way to salvation to everyone. Almost 99% devotees were in their 40′s or over.

Seeing this, one of my friends asked me a question:

Why do people incline to religion at some point of their middle age?

And I had no solid answer. But I searched my nearly empty head and answered: May be they have done enough sins and are now tying to purify themselves in the name of god and religion. He countered me saying, at some age people began to feel loneliness and they have no one to share their inner thoughts/feelings so they turn to god.

He’s got the point, I guess. Now I wonder, is this why people turn to religion?

turning-to-godHistorians say Nepali Shakespeare Bal Krishna Sama was atheist. But during later age, he turned to god and even wrote poem Ichhya (desire). I know he’s not the only example. I bet, you would find such men in every corner.

Now I don’t believe in god. May be some day I would feel the heat of loneliness. Would I turn to god then? I wonder!!!

How about you guys? Have you ever thought about it?

The reader and The Curious case of Benjamin…: My verdicts

3

Recently I watched two movies that are front runner in OSCARS for various categories. The Reader and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I know, I haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire yet. But still am ready with the reviews of two movies I have seen.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

As title of film, it’s very curious movie with extraordinary story. Adapted from 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald with same title, the movie tells story of a man who starts aging backwards instead of aging forward. Made alive with the maximum use of technologies, the movie tells the love story of Benjamin and Daisy (Cate Blanchett). Aided with great performance by both lead actors, this movie would surely haul some Oscars. (If there’s no Slumdog, it might have become the very strong contender for top honor).

My verdict: Go watch it. It’s an epic fantasy tale with rich storytelling backed by fantastic performances.

The Reader

If Kate Winslet didn’t win Oscars this time, Oscars would be making a big mistake but not recognizing her talent. This movie is all about her performance. Set in post world war Germany, this movie tells the love story of 15 years old Michale and his double age Hana. Unlike many dramas, this story revolves around perpetrator instead of victim.

People safeguard their secrets but there’s price to pay. And this movie shows how far people can go to guard their secret and are ready to pay every prices.

My verdict: This movie is all about Kate Winslet. Watch it for her Oscar-nod performance.

Another grand-design

Nepali politics is very weird. I wonder sometimes whether this weird part is inheritance of every politics around the world? Look at old GPK, he’s again hinting of changing guards at Baluwatar. (Oh don’t say PM office’s at singhadurbar, if you say your IQ is low. Don’t you hear all meetings taking place at Baluwatar?)

According to reports:  GPK said to Makune that if he has courage to push-off PKD, then he’s ready to lend his support. Now i see Grand Design here (you know same design as GPK saw in Royal Massacare). First: Makune will topple the government hoping to be PM (poor soul, his dreams always shatters). When Mao followers are thrown at street from lavish bed which according to rumor cost more than 100 grands, GPK will double cross Makune and He will again be Bed-PM. After all we all know, he ran country for almost two years from bed. (more…)

NIBL Sucks!

Who doesn’t agree with me??

  • Nepal Investment Bank has the worst ATM machines which go down again and again giving you extra headache instead of money.
  • They have very bad customer care service (except few one :P )
  • They regularly change software of e-banking making us to go there again, and again, to get new password.
  • Their e-banking uses only Internet Explorer, thus making me feel like being in late 90′s. Even the password has to be made from all: letters, digits and symbols: resulting hard to remember password.
  • As a whole, they suck.

If you agree : you are in right side. If not you know who you are.

Do i need to put it in words?

I wonder how they get: Banker’s Awards. Do you thinking what am i thinking: BRIBES?
